Woody Island Races
The Woody Island Race is a handicap start race and is sailed with shallow keeled yachts circumnavigating Big Woody Island. The deeper keeled yachts sail down the eastern side of Big Woody Island, turning at S11 and sailing back with the fleet. A Woody Island race is included in the Summer and Winter Calendars.
The Rob Batchelor Around Woody Island Race trophy is dedicated to a long time member of the Hervey Bay Sailing Club and Hervey Bay Boat Club Yacht Squadron. Rob sailed an RL24 for many years. This trophy is awarded to the first RL24 boat around the island.
